Open Farm Tour at St. Mary's Convent

Saturday and Sunday, April 26-27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m, the Sisters of St. Mary invite you to visit St. Mary's on-the-Hill Cashmere goat farm.

St. Mary's on-the-Hill Cashmere is one of 15 farms featured on the 22nd annual Washington County Fiber Tour which showcases wool and fiber-producing animals and industry across Washington County. The sister's award-winning goats, along with this season's newborn goat kids, will be featured.

The farm is on the grounds of the Community of St. Mary convent in Greenwich, NY.

Products for sale will include cashmere and wool yarns, Scriptorium cards, hand spun wool articles, new hand-sewn stuffed goats, and more.

A teen who purchased goats from the sisters three years ago will demonstrate goat-cart driving as "Team Snazzy Goat" -- a trained cart goat pair.  Other youth, including local 4-H clubs and the St. Luke’s, Mechanicville’s confirmation class, are serving as volunteers through the weekend.

For more information, call 518-791-4142 or e-mail Sister Mary Elizabeth at compunun@aol.com.
