"The Church Mothers & Fathers: A Primer for Today" Lunch and Seminar

Famously (or infamously), the great Anglican-turned-Catholic, John Henry Newman, said: “to be deep in history is to cease to be Protestant.” As Episcopalians living in the via media of the Elizabethan Settlement (between Roman and Reformed), what are we to make of Newman’s statement? Fr. Radcliff will lead a reflection introducing Patristics (the study of the church fathers and mothers) and facilitate a workshop exploring practical ways Episcopalians can retrieve them theologically today.

Lunch will be served in the Welcome Center at 12 noon.

About our Speaker: A Priest-Scholar/Pastor-Educator, The Rev. Dr. Jason Radcliff is Head of School (Headmaster) at Augustine Classical Academy in Saratoga County, a Christian K–12 school. Prior to that, he served as an Assistant Rector at a parish in South Carolina and was previously a Humanities/Theology Teacher (as well as Assistant Dormitory Head and Wrestling & Badminton Coach) for many years at The Stony Brook School, a Christian boarding school on Long Island where he also taught Patristics to ordinands in The Episcopal Diocese of Long Island at The Mercer School of Theology (The Diocese’s seminary). Father Radcliff holds a B.A. in Student Ministry from Geneva College as well as an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Theology from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and The University of Edinburgh, respectively. Father Radcliff is passionate about Theology and is the author of three books on the subject: Thomas. F. Torrance and the Church Fathers, Thomas F. Torrance and the Orthodox-Reformed Dialogue, and (with Canon Bruce Griffith) Grace and Incarnation: The Oxford Movement's Shaping of Modern Anglicanism.
