HEALING FESTIVAL SET FOR JULY 20, 2019
Veterans, first responders, firemen or emergency medical technicians who have suffered trauma in the line of duty — or those who have experienced sexual or physical abuse at some point in their life — are invited to attend a Healing Festival Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. at the Christ the King Center, 575 Burton Road in Greenwich, N.Y.
Held outside under a large outdoor tent with idyllic vistas of Southern Washington County, the event will begin at 4 p.m. with a community chicken barbeque and pig roast featuring folk/Christian music by This Time Around. The cost is $15 per person.
Dr. Mike Hutchings, director of education for Global Awakening, an evangelistic ministry in Mechanicsburg, PA, will then give a keynote presentation at 7 p.m. Hutchings, who has 35 years of pastoral and church planting experience, will discuss how prayer can bring emotional, spiritual and physical healing and freedom to anyone suffering from trauma or moral injury, especially those coping with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
“Mike has a particular passion working with those who are suffering from trauma,” said Healing Festival Coordinator Fr. Mark Chesnut. “He conducts `Healing PTSD’ training seminars throughout the country training prayer ministers, clergy, chaplains, and counselors to utilize a healing prayer model to bring restoration to those suffering with both PTS and PTSD.”
A prayer service will follow with musical accompaniment provided by the Hoosic Valley Community Church Worship Band.
“Anyone who wants to receive prayer is welcome to attend,” Chesnut added. “However, we are especially interested in bringing together those wrestling with some kind of trauma. Our hope is that the event gives them an opportunity to meet others going through similar experiences, as well as a chance to let God address some of their needs.”
