Noel Dawes Bio

NMDawesLt Col (Ret) Noel Dawes retired from the British Army after 30 years of service in 1994 and, together with Meryl, his wife, has been a staff member with ACCTS (accts.org) since then.

Noel has command, staff and operational experience at all levels of national, joint and international military organizations and served in many different countries. His background as a leader and trainer of soldiers is complemented by time spent instructing on the faculty of the UK and Ghanaian Infantry Schools, the Ghana Military Academy, and in computer simulation development.  Noel enjoys reading keeping up to date with current affairs, and was a keen dinghy sailor, skier.

Noel and his wife, Meryl are closely involved in a ministry outreach to men and women suffering from combat trauma. Noel leads a ministry team for inner healing retreats of the Welcome Home Initiative© at Christ the King Center, Greenwich, NY 12834. Meryl coordinates quilt gifts.  This Initiative aims to bring welcome, comfort, understanding and relief to Wounded Warriors, and their families, including Chaplains, who have soul and moral wounds from war duties in places such as Iraq, Afghanistan and many others, including the home front. Many Wounded Warriors are suffering in body, mind and spirit and a significant proportion are diagnosed with PTS/PTSD and TBI. Noel and Meryl also consult in living according to biblical standards, are deeply involved in healing prayer ministry and advise about reconciliation and conflict resolution. 

Noel’s work with ACCTS (www.accts.org) is to coordinate a ministry of care and support to military Chaplains. Noel is also endorsed as Lay Commissioned Chaplain in the Jurisdiction of the Armed Forces of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA).

Married for over 50 years, Noel and Meryl have two married adult sons.  They live near Albany, New York, USA. Noel and Meryl have several grandchildren who they frequently visit in the US and England.
