Mighty to Save Breakout Sessions

On Saturday morning, four breakout sessions will be offered.  Each session has limited capacity so sign up will be required when you register.

A Winter's Walk with Haley Sive

"Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it! Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy before the LORD, for he comes, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness, and the peoples in his faithfulness." (Ps 96:11-13) During this break out session, we'll enjoy God's creation by taking a brisk walk around the Center. As the Lord leads, we'll spend some time praying for each other, our families, and our home churches as we take in the snowy meadows and forest.
Make sure to bring mittens, scarves, and hats!

God of the Word with Debbi Hammond

This is an opportunity for those who lead or participate in Bible studies (or would like to begin doing so) to help yourself and others know the Bible from beginning to end. Debbi intends to:

  • briefly share the unusual story of GOD of the WORD’s origin and development
  • tell a little about its approach
  • give participants a chance to experience the study firsthand (a 15-minute, non-threatening mini-session)
  • see sample materials
  • explain how to access and use the remaining materials on the GOD of the WORD website

DHammondDebbi Hammond and her husband Jim have been married since 1981. They have four children and nine grandchildren. Debbi and Jim moved to New York from Arizona in 2005 when Jim assumed the role of President and CEO of Gospel Volunteers and Executive Director of CAMP-of-the-WOODS, a 110-year-old Christian resort-style campground and conference center in the Adirondacks.

Prior to their move, Debbi served as a “Teaching Leader” for Bible Study Fellowship, International, lecturing weekly on the Bible and training women in Christian leadership principles. Since then, she has developed GOD of the WORD, a systematic approach to studying the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. The eight, semester-long studies emphasize the Bible’s unified story and personal application to everyday living. GOD of the WORD has grown from its roots in upstate New York and is now used internationally by those who have never opened the Bible, by seminary graduates, and by those of every level between. By God’s grace, Debbi has been able, thus far, to make all of the materials available at no cost. Currently, she teaches two GOD of the WORD studies weekly to local groups of about 60 members each.
